“You are not required to set yourself on fire to keep other people warm”
A friend of mine is going through a challenging time right now, dealing with something that has been a long time coming. I’ve been trying to provide as much (genuine) encouragement as I can. I saw this quote and it really resonated with me, especially when I thought about his situation. A big thing that was holding him back from taking the steps he needed for the sake of his own health was the fear of how other people would react – friends, family, employers. But at the end of the day, you have to take care of yourself, and you should never sacrifice your own health and well-being for someone else’s sake.
On the 12th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me … 12 fabulous feathers. Plus 6. Plus the staves they are attached to. Which is to say, another Showgirl status achieved, I now have my own set of feather fans. Granted they aren’t the biggest or the fanciest, but they are a gorgeous color. Good job Mr Von Purr! (Not our real last name …)
Inspired by Erin, I started my very first batch of kombucha around Christmas, and I am now brewing batch 3. And, batch 2 produced a second scoby! I think I need to get a better container for bottling – the one I’m using right now doesn’t have an air-tight lid, so I made due with some saran wrap and a rubber band. But now that I have a second scoby, I can stagger another batch so I’m have less time between drinkable-kombucha!
