Valentine’s Weekend

I will admit it, I love Valentine’s Day. I don’t mind doing fun or cheesy things to celebrate.

Like … performing in a burlesque show! Friday was my sixth burlesque show, I was in two group numbers and a duet. And the entire night was a blast, from getting ready at the studio with other ladies (good conversation and tacos) to all the fun backstage (helping each other in and out of costumes) and how awesome I felt on stage.

I mentioned that I was doing my first duet – you can watch it over on Note that the bras come off – we have pasties on underneath, but still … NSFW and  all that.

On Saturday I joined the tail end of a friend of a friend’s annual Valentine’s horror movie marathon and watched My Blood Valentine. As cheesy as expected. But then we left and watched one of my favorite love stories, Jane Eyre. (This one.)

On Sunday, I spent the day with three people I love most – my husband and parents. We enjoyed dinner at The Italian Village (haven’t been there since senior prom) and then saw CabaretMy life already is a bit of a cabaret, but hopefully it doesn’t distract me from the realities of the changing political climate around me.

Did you do anything for Valentine’s Day?

  1. Sounds like you celebrated all weekend! I kept the overall weekend low key, but LOVED the Valentines dinner we had at Trenchermen… so worth the cost for the Red Velvet Torte for dessert 🙂

  2. What a fun Valentine’s Day weekend! Do you feel like Burlesque is meeting your dance needs? I know earlier in the year (or late last year) you questioned if it was!

Our VDay was low key. I taught a class and we went bathtub shopping. Ha!
