I gave up on a witty title. As I mentioned in my March round-up, my husband lost his job. So April was a month of … concern. And trying to minimize spending. But I saved the good news for the end of course 🙂

Fitness:

Keep up with PT exercises. I started doing this again! I did my exercises usually 3-5 times per week.

Weekly yoga. I made it to 2 classes. Deep Stretch at Yoga Six South Loop and Zen Yin at Zen Yoga Garage in Bucktown (really nice space!)

104 strength workouts. I did 7 classes with ClassPass! Before I had to put my account on hold at the end of my monthly cycle (with ClassPass … not my lady cycle). But I really enjoyed GO ROW, Ass & Abs at On Your Mark, Endurance Reformer at West Town Pilates, and I made it back to CrossTown Fitness for a Total Body class.

1,000 miles. I mentioned in my Shamrock Shuffle race report (I think?) that my knee was … making itself known during the race. So, I took a break from running and focused on PT exercises this month. I covered 48 miles, 45 of them on a Divvy bike.

Art & Culture:

Perform again. I’ve been working on my costume for my performance on May 8th! So excited. Rhinestoning is a tedious process. (I did not use a Bedazzler, but attempted to do it by hand with E6000, like the pros do.)

Read 18 books. I finished The Red Tent and Ready Player OneAnd finally made it to a book club meeting! (To discuss Ready Player One.) Both books were good, I was surprised by how engrossed I got in Ready Player One. We’re a third of the way into the year and I’ve read 4 1/2 books. Hmm.

Attend at least one art-related thing per month. I went to a “culture” related event – Katha Pollitt gave a talk at Northwestern.

Life:

Stop talking myself out of doing things. I made it to a book club meeting! I made it to an outing of the Chicago Lady Crafters! I went to a birthday party for a high school friend and got to catch up with some friends I haven’t seen in years!

Volunteer. Had a meeting for the BVA project I’m working on with the Audience Architects.

Decrease our debt. After a month of agressive job searching, I’m so relieved to say that my husband got two offers within 24-hours at the end of the month, accepted one of them, and starts later this week. PHEW! Although I totalled up our debt shortly after he lost his job, and we had made a little bit of progress so far this year. So after a month of frugality, hopefully we can keep this momentum going.
