February Fails

February was hit or miss.


Keep up with PT exercises. Ugh. I did worse this month than last month.

Weekly yoga. I made it to yoga once. Oy. Felt really great though.

104 strength workouts. I did 6 last month. I did join Class Pass toward the end of the month, which I’ve been wanting to do for awhile, so hopefully I’ll get in more strength workouts. I’m having fun so far. This month I tried CrossTown Fitness, Shred 415 (first time) and Mazi Dance Fitness (first time). You can try Class Pass yourself for one week of unlimited classes for $10. 1,000 miles. I did 9 self-powered miles. All running. I’m so not motivated by this weather.

Art & Culture:

Perform again. Finished my session at Studio L’maour. Taught another workshop at Room to Move. Took an American Can Can Workshop at Vaudezilla (at which I met Nina). All in all, super fun month!

Read 18 books. I finished Inherent Vice and started and finished Whistling Past the Graveyard. I started The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. 

Attend at least one art-related thing per month. Big Sexy Show (burlesque), Chicago Symphony OrchestraEndgame (play), and Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band.



Stop talking myself out of doing things. I was supposed to go to a cocktail hour with my husband and a friend, and both of them bailed on me, but I went anyway. I ended up meeting one of the creators of the Sex for Smart People podcast, which was pretty neat! I also attended the Be Your Own Valentine event at Rooted Self Expressions. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but we did a neat guided art exercise, and I tried accupuncture for the first time.

Volunteer. Had a couple meetings for the BVA project I’m working on. It’s moving along.

Decrease our debt. Workin’ on it.

  1. I’m with you on this weather. I’m supposed to be running a half marathon the first weekend in April and so far the longest run I’ve done has been just shy of 8 miles. It’s just….ugh.

  2. I ran outside all of twice during February. Wait, three times. But still. This weather has been just brutal. BUT I think things are supposed to get a lot better soon – which is good, since I am running the Shuffle, and have found myself roped into a bit of an office competition (me + my super speedy coworker against my boss and one of his friends. Fastest combined time wins. Based on last year, my coworker and I should clean up no problem, but I have some pretty serious doubts about my ability to go 41 again this year, considering the fact that I haven’t done speedwork since…like last April. Oops. Hahaha.)

  3. I don’t even think I ran 10 miles in February. I am SO OVER winter. And now my sinuses have filled up so I can hardly breathe which makes anything even harder. I’m planning on running tomorrow morning since it will be nearly 30F!

    It was nice to finally meet you at the Can Can workshop – hope to run into you soon!

  4. Ahhhh, Class Pass!!! How exciting that you joined! I think you are going to thoroughly enjoy your membership. Can’t wait to hear more details about all the new studios you check out! BTW – I took a yoga barre class at Zen Yoga Garage, and really enjoyed it.

  5. I’m thinking about doing the $10 week with Classpass. Just wondering if it’ll be hard to get into classes since I can’t book too far out.

    I’ve run by Zen Yoga a bunch, glad you mentioned it. I just looked online and they do a free week for new students so I’ll have to check it out some time. I live far north on the blue line, but the studio has showers, which is great. I tend to do my workouts before going to the office.

    1. there are certain classes that do book up in advance, but at some places you can get in same day. let me know if there are any specific locations or classes and I can take a look. the other nice thing is there are so many options on there that if the class you want is booked, you can probably find a similar alternative nearby.
