I haven’t run a mile since the Chicago Half a week ago. Between starting this post and publishing it, I ran 4 whole miles. In the rain. #seriousrunner

The only races I have coming up are 5K’s. Looking back on my race reports, the last time I wasn’t training (or … preparing) for a 10+ mile race was in early 2012. So I’ve constantly had “I need to do a long run” in the back of my mind for a year and a half. This break feels good already.

I still love running, but I’m excited to do things other than running. I’ve bought a few different Groupon-type deals and have been enjoying those …

Yoga. I’ve done yoga before, but it was usually at my gym and not very intense – mostly stretching, not really strength building. The yoga class I’ve been going to is serious. Anything involving a headstand (or in my case, tripod) is serious yoga, right? When everyone else in the class is able to do crow pose and headstands but me (although the teacher is has been very encouraging of what I can do), I remind myself that I’m a runner doing yoga, I’m not trying to be a serious yogini. (Although the door’s open for that if I enjoy it.)

Reformer. I love Pilates, and I’ve always wanted to get on a reformer, but it’s a bit pricey. Thanks to LivingSocial, I’m paying about $9/class. (Unfortunately, only for 5 classes, then I have to cough up close to $30/class if I want to continue.) Not surprising, I love reformer Pilates. [This is what I’ve been doing, obviously that’s not the studio I go to.]

Kimbot. If you follow Kim, you know she recently earned her certification and has been teaching at Essential Fitness. She did a group class for our friends yesterday. Being with friends for an hour is always fun, but today, I’m sore in so many places, including weird places like the insides of my elbows.

I refuled after (at the post-workout lunch and then later at dinner and post-dinner) and Untappd totally passed judgement on me.

Uh, sure, sampling pints. OK, one of the five was half of a pint because my husband didn’t want to finish one of his beers. 

I’ve also been feeling the urge to play soccer again, so who knows, maybe I’ll make my way out to a pick-up game. Although I think my gear is still at my parents’ house.

Any other ladies play soccer (or want to play soccer) and want to check out a pick-up game with me? Any other non-running workouts I should try? I still have to take those two acrobatics classes that I purchased from TSNY Chicago.
