I’ll admit, I sometimes skip these, but these questions don’t suck, and Kelly tagged me, and well she’s my BRF 🙂
A. Attached or Single?
B. Best Friend?
Genevieve. We met when we were little … probably first met when we were really little, at whatever age you start Sunday school. I think our best friendship status was cemented during a church-related lock-in in junior high (mid-90s).
But I have a lot of other best friends …
Scott and Vera – I’ve known Vera since kindergarten, and we met Scott in junior high. Bestie status for our trio achieved in high school.
Paula. We met in high school (1996). She was part of the same circle of friends through which I met the Sailor. She started dating the Sailor’s best friend a few years ago and now they’re married, so the four of us hang out a lot.
Loren, Melissa, Denise. Loren and Melissa are married to my brothers. Loren has been with my bro Steve for pretty much all of time, and Melissa was one of my best friends before she started dating my bro Mark. Denise is my cousin, we’re three months apart and we both have older bros but no sisters, so we bonded.
Sarah and Jessica. College besties.
And Kelly, my best running friend! We only met … a couple years ago? But I feel like we bonded pretty quickly.
C. Cake or pie?
Hm. Why do I have to choose? I like carrot cake, pecan pie, chocolate cake, lemon merangue pie … The only thing I really don’t like is fruity pies that include a lot of syrup.
D. Day of choice?
Saturday, duh. I can sleep in, and have the whole day to do whatever I want and don’t have to go to bed early.
E. Essential Item?
Burts bees lip balm.
F. Favorite color?
G. Gummy bears or worms?
Sour grapefruit gummies.
H. Home town?
South burbs of Chicago
I. Favorite Indulgence?
Um … all of them? I’m an equal opportunity indulger. I love sweets, but I have a total salt tooth.
J. January or July?
July. After New Years, I’m pretty much over winter.
L. Life isn’t complete without?
Family and friends! Obvious, sure, but I love being around people I love and/or enjoy. (Wait, that sounds bad.)
M. Marriage date?
April 21, 2007. I was 24. A baby.
N. Number of brothers/sisters?
Two older brothers. This is us with our spouses during a very Snuggie Christmas. (Yes, my husband is wearing a Packers Santa hat. No, he did not grow up in Wisconsin. Yes, I am ashamed.)
O. Oranges or Apples?
Cherries. And blackberries.
I’m a good swimmer – I used to teach lessons, and I used to even work as a lifeguard. But I get freaked out in water that is over my head. Even in pools. Where there is no risk of an undertoe. I try not to let it hold me back though.
“Don’t ask why, ask why not?” and “I’ll try anything once” have been sort of mantras since I was a teenager. Also “It’s easier to go down a hill than up, but the view is so much better from the top” has resonated with me lately.
R. Reasons to smile?
Because life is good. I’m generally an optimistic, look-on-the-bright side kind of person and I like to meet new people and try new things. Generally. And I have my health, my immediate family is healthy, I have a great husband, a satisfying job, I live in a wonderful city … I have no reason to complain.
S. Season of choice?
I love the summer because there is so much fun stuff going on, and I like fresh air and having the windows open and doing stuff outside. I also love the fall because of the change in weather, the changing colors, the flavors, Halloween, the approach of the holidays.
T. Tag 5 People
Partiicpate if you want, but I won’t be offended if you don’t. And if you’ve already done this, sorry that I missed it.

U. Unknown fact about me?
I’m kind of an open book, so there isn’t much about me that is unknown. Maybe that I love math and thought about starting over … going back to college, getting a second bachelors in math or engineering and starting a new career as a structural engineer or in predicitive analytics. I even took a few calculus classes at the junior college. (And enjoyed it way more than most people.) But I stuck with marketing/PR, and now I think my job (Digital Marketing) is the perfect fit. It’s creative, but also analytical. A good mix. And it’s constantly changing. There is always something new to learn and try out. My job today is different from my job two years ago, and likely different from what I’ll be doing two years from now.
But I do still really love math, so who knows, maybe I’ll sign up for Differential Equations, just for funsies. I think that was where I left off.
Eggplant. Artichokes. Tasty lettuce, like kale and arugala. Mushrooms. Red peppers.
W. Worst habit?
Cracking my knuckles? Being too sarcastic for my own good?
X. X-ray or Ultrasound?
This is a weird question. I’ve only ever had x-rays – of my teeth, my face and my wrist.
Y. Your favorite food?
Mexican. Tacos. Fajitas. Guacamole. Margaritas. Gimme.
Z. Zodiac sign?
