One sad thing about moving is no longer being able to regularly attend group runs with the F’N Runners. So, it’s time for the next best thing, a new group run or club. Perhaps I could turn this into a regular series, checking out clubs and free group runs around the city. Maybe. That sounds very involved.

Tonight was Pint Night at Fleet Feet Chicago stores, and I met up with a few local bloggers at their Lincoln Square location for a group run followed by beer! Free beer! And not Michelob Ultra!

Look both ways before you cross the tracks; These guys are pretty lucky, yes?

The route we ran went to River Park, which was great because I was curious about the North Shore Channel Trail, and now I know how to get there. However, since it was hot and gross, and River Park was 1.5mi away, we turned back for 3 miles, which meant we were back sooner for beer at the Grafton.

After 3 hot miles. Amy, Declan, Pete, Anne, me.

We could also try out Newton shoes during the fun run. (Only the top and bottom shoes are Newtons.) Can you guess who’s who? I’ll give you a hint, Amy’s not in this one.

BEER ME.

Over beers, Anne, Declan, Pete and I came up with some brillant ideas. Our new running “club” will henceforth be known as the Wurst Running Club Ever. It was going to be “worst” but we changed it given the neighborhood and everyone’s love of sausage (just generalizing). We also started brainstorming ideas for our inaugural race, the Wurst 5K Ever. It’ll be epic. Stay tuned on if we get our act together and plan it.

Clearly I had a great time at Pint Night, but it’s only held monthly. (Although Fleet Feet does weekly group runs.) Any other local group runs/clubs in Chicago that I should check out in the meantime?
