To put it in Cubs terms, 2012 was a rebuilding year. Meaning, we didn’t do a lot of big fun exciting things. Our focus was on becoming more financially stable. But some highlights of the year:
Won my age group at the Midwinter Cruise 5K.
Paced Genevieve to a 5K PR in 12 degree temps.
Paced my college friend Ali to her first half marathon finish
Made it through five years of marriage to this guy.
Went to Indianapolis for a Revered Peyton’s Big Damn Band concert.
Sunburst Half Marathon (with my husband and Genevieve)
My cat is famous (the pretty kitty princess)
Met Desi Davila
Finished my first marathon! And raised over $1,300 for the American Cancer Society.
Traveled to Wisconsin with a bunch of chicks I met on the internet.
Saw Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band again.
Won my age group at the Jingle Bell 5K.
I’ve noticed in my life for the past few years that the most significant changes happen during the odd years (2007 = we got married, 2009 = husband enlisted in the Navy, 2011 = moved in with my parents).
So, once again, an even year was pretty quiet for us. The biggest news of the year for me was major changes at work (which I don’t really talk about on here) and running the marathon. While I wish 2012 included reaching our goal of homeownership, or at least having a place of our own again, that didn’t happen. And as Cubs fans say … there’s always next year.
