I’m excited to be able to give away another free entry for a local race!

Girl Scouts is launching a movement to achieve gender equity in leadership in just one generation. Were you a Girl Scout? I was a Brownie for three years. I’m not sure why I didn’t continue past that – probably because none of my friends did. But I enjoyed Brownies! And not just the for the cookies. But probably because many of my friends were in my troop.

I’m the taller Brownie. The woman on the far right? BFF Ultra Vera’s mom.

The Girl Scouts’ mission bursts into action on Saturday, September 8, 2012, with the Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana’s inaugural Cookie Classic 5k in Chicago’s Grant Park.  It is a great race for beginners, an enjoyable race for seasoned veterans, and an event to which you can bring the whole family! Each runner receives a box of Girl Scout cookies (!) and a T-shirt, and there is a celebration afterward with food, entertainment, and fun. Visit gscookieclassic.org for more info.

If you’d like to enter for a chance to win a free entry for this 5K, just leave a comment below letting us know which is your favorite Girl Scout cookie. Mine is Samoas.

Earn bonus entries for following the Girl Scouts on Twitter and liking on Facebook (one bonus entry for doing each, include in your comment what you do).

I’ll pick a winner on Sunday, August 12.

Also, today’s the last day to enter my Super Awesome Running Stuff Raffle for the American Cancer Society. Win lots of goodies for as little as $1! I’m picking the winners tonight.
