Monday: 6.35mi in 59 minutes, 9:16 pace. I worked from home part of the day, and it was raining all day. I was hoping to be able to run in the rain but by the time I laced up, it had stopped.

Tuesday: Strength stuff at the gym. Resistance bands, core, free weights, lots of stretching and foam rolling.

Wednesday: 6.37mi in 1:00, 9:25 pace. Was late to my group run, but was able to meet-up with some of them on their way back, then went out and did some more solo miles. Also ate a few bugs and was inspired to write this post.

Thursday: 5.85mi in 57 minutes, 9:40 pace. Fartleks with Kelly. Given the warmer temps, I’m happy we got some speedwork in. Kelly is being coached by Britt aka Chicago Runner Girl, so I tagged along for her assigned workout. Then we got ice cream (that was not part of her assigned workout … oops am I a bad influence?)

Friday: rest

Saturday: 9 miles in 1:29, 9:52 pace. It was humid. I was just happy to get miles in.

Sunday: rest, but I had fun spectating the Southwest Half Marathon

Total miles: 27.6


  • I need to break this habit of doing nothing on Fridays and Sundays.
  • I’ve been thinking a lot lately about my long-term running goals. What is my ultimate goal – distance? Or speed? I don’t know if I’m ready to put my thoughts out there in the blogosphere (because, you know, once you put something out there, there’s no going back). But I’ll probably write a blog post about it soon.
