I extended last week’s cycle to Monday because that’s when I did my long run.
- Monday: Rest. Well, Christmas.
- Tuesday: Barry’s Bootcamp Butt & Legs (2-3 miles of intervals & 30 minutes of strength) via ClassPass
- Wednesday: Run (treadmill) 2.5 miles and 30 minutes of weights
- Thursday: Rest
- Friday: Run, 3 miles, in the snow.
- Saturday: Run, 3.3 miles, on the treadmill and 30 minutes of weights
- Sunday: Run, 4.4 miles outside, and yoga with the Pilsen Yoga Tribe
- Monday: Run, 5.6 miles outside and 2.4 miles on the treadmill
Total Distance: 23 miles (over 8 days)
Total Time: 7hr, 15 minutes (over 8 days)
Tuesday – Barry’s Bootcamp with Vera. It’s her favorite and I guess Seattle doesn’t have a Barry’s, so she may have gone every day she was home for the holidays.
Wednesday. And Saturday. And part of Monday.
Sunday – Pilsen Yoga Tribe and run
Sunday’s outside miles and icicle eyelashes
Like many of you, I’m living in the deep freeze in Chicago. We haven’t had temps above 20 degrees since Christmas. And I’ll be honest, even though I ran outside a few times, this weather is definitely impacting my workout schedule. Not just not wanting to run outside (and hating the treadmill) but also not even wanting to walk from my office to some of my usual workouts. Luckily, we have a fitness room in our building, but … that’s boring.
When I did make it outside … some of those runs were real “character builders.” Friday’s run in the snow felt like so much work. Monday’s 8-mile run got split in two because I started getting cold running outside, so I came home, changed into dry clothes, and finished on the treadmill.
Anyway, I’m registered for the F^3 Half Marathon later this month. My training is not going well, to be honest. It started off well, my weekly mileage and long runs were progressing well. But then my knee started to bug me a little bit. And since it was cold, I used my knee as an excuse when I probably didn’t need to. If I do go through with the race, it’s going to be… long. I’m undertrained, plan and simple. And it’s going to be cold. I’m seriously considering switching to the 5K (even though there is a $15 fee to do so). We’ll see how my long runs go these next two weekends.
How are you dealing with this weather? Has your workout/running schedule suffered?
