Review: Kakookies Energy Snacks

I tried Kakookies for the first time via StrideBox. I had never heard of them, but they are described as “Better For You” Cookies. Meaning, they look and taste like cookies, but are vegan, gluten-free, and made with “premium super-food ingredients,” like chia seeds, flaxseed meal, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, whole grain oats, coconut oil, dried fruits, and premium vanilla extract. I really liked the flavor, but they aren’t overly sweet like a dessert cookie. They make a good breakfast cookie though.

In addition to the Kakookie that I received in my StrideBox, Kakookies also sent me a sampler of all four flavors to try – Dark Chocolate Cranberry, Boundary Waters Blueberry, Cashew Blondie, and Almond Cranberry.

I typically ate one Kakookie with my coffee before a long-ish run on the weekend.

My favorite flavors were the Dark Chocolate Cranberry and Boundary Waters Blueberry. I found the blueberry flavor to be the moistest. The other flavors were a little crispier.

Pretty sure this is Dark Chocolate Cranberry

At 220-230 calories and full of recognizable ingredients, these are a great pre-workout snack, and they worked really well before my long runs. They would also make a great mid-morning or mid-afternoon or on-the-go snack when you want something healthy and a little bit more substantial than a granola bar.

Want to try for yourself? You can order Kakookies online via Kakookies.com or Amazon.
