March Madness

Things look a little different around here, huh? After 3 years of being self-hosted, the costs to renew my self-hosting were a bit more than I wanted to spend, so I moved everything (minus all of the pictures) to the free WordPress platform. I downloaded all of the pictures, but I think it’s a manual process to get them into old posts.

That being said, if you subscribe to this blog via email and/or RSS, you might have to update things.

So, March goals check-in!

Keep up with PT exercises. I started to do this again at the end of the month.

Weekly yoga. I made it to 4 classes! Two with the Pilsen Yoga Tribe, and also Yin/Deep Stretch at Eb & Flow and Yoga Six South Loop.

104 strength workouts. I did 5 classes – TRX, AIR, Pilates equipment, SHRED415, Core Fusion Barre. I’m still loving ClassPass.

1,000 miles. I did 42 self-powered miles. Much better than last month! 19 cycling and 22 running.

Art & Culture:

Perform again. I started a session of classes at Vaudezilla. Our class will perform at a student show in May! Which means I have to put together a costume (we’re going for a Jessica Rabbit-esque look). I also taught another burlesque workshop at Room to Move Studio, and I took an Into to Bellydance workshop at Vaudezilla, that was fun!

Read 18 books. I finished Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and started The Red Tent.  Enjoyed/ing both.

Attend at least one art-related thing per month. I went to an Imagine Dragons concert while in Salt Lake City, and my husband and I saw the Preservation Hall Jazz Band (the tickets were his Christmas present) at the North Shore Center.

Stop talking myself out of doing things. [This is basically an exercise in being social and/or trying new things.] I joined Erin last-minute for a media event at Pinstripes, and I helped organize a Progressive Open House social event in our building and met some new neighbors.

Volunteer. Had a couple more meetings for the BVA project I’m working on with the Audience Architects. Also, April is Chicago Dance Month, lots of great events and performances going on all over the city – I hope to check out some of the free events, like this one.

Decrease our debt. Our debt has gone down slightly this year. However, my husband just lost his job. Our lease is up in two months, so at least this is good timing in that regard? We might be moving … again.

    1. Thanks. He did know that his job would be ending, just wasn’t sure exactly when, and hadn’t been able to find anything else before then. But hopefully it’ll work out.

    1. That’s what we’re hoping. He didn’t really love what he was doing (real estate), it was just a job. So maybe this will be an opportunity to get back to doing what he loves (politics, research, foreign affairs).
